Apart from the typical dimensional signage I was used to creating for various clients. School of Rock presented a challenge that pushed my environmental graphic skills further.
School of Rock wanted their show stopper piece to be a mural wall that presented photographs of their students, both nationally and locally. The challenge itself was to create a wide-format template that could scale to varying wall dimensions and aspect ratios, while maintaining consistent gutters and margins with minimal manual adjustment.
I found the tools within Adobe InDesign, utilizing automation, a grid based guide format and little-known tools for final adjustments. From there, it just came down to relinking the images of the local students provided by the client. By the end I achieved a template that could re-size, adjust, and repopulate imagery that was print ready in as little as three minutes.
