Dogtopia was a brand that really challenged me to enhance my craft in a very playful way. I learned ways to improve our existing processes and enhance our limitations of fabrication and installation.
Take, for instance, "Scruffy," built on a dimensional PVC base, features multiple materials that speak to the life of a dog. The yellow patch next to his eye is made of tennis ball fabric, his collar is made of Astroturf, his nose is rubber floor matting for texture, and the map on his shoulder represents the actual region of each franchise.
The playrooms challenged my capabilities of reproducing high-resolution imagery at a scale I had not seen before. With many playroom murals exceeding well beyond thirty feet in length, our design software capabilities struggled. By reaching out to the Adobe software engineers, I was able to build and optimize a workflow that utilized the very best performance from the Adobe suite, which we later adopted as our default workflow for wide-format printing.
